Favicon checker
What is a Favicon Checker?
The Favicon Checker looks for a favicon declaration in a webpage's <link> tags (rel="icon", "shortcut icon", or "alternate icon") and reports the resolved favicon URL, if one is set.
Why a Favicon Matters
- Brand recognition — The favicon appears in browser tabs, bookmarks, and history, reinforcing brand identity at a glance.
- Search result branding — Google displays favicons next to search results on mobile, making a missing or generic favicon a small but visible credibility signal.
- Easy to miss — Favicons are often forgotten during redesigns or migrations since the browser silently falls back to a blank icon rather than erroring.
